Even though each day brings different, exciting and new challenges, the motto according to which I lead the team remains the same: “Be pro-active, be deliberate and find solutions that fit”.

What does a typical day for you at IDR entail?

On a daily basis we connect and collaborate as a team to deliver the best possible service to our clients. We also challenge and support each other to continuously grow and adapt in this ever-changing industry.

What’s it like working at IDR?

We work together towards the same vision. Here we have the opportunity to direct individual accomplishment towards organizational objectives.  This is the fuel that enables us to achieve our goals whilst also finding happiness in our careers.

What’s your background and how has your career evolved?

I believe that success is not just about what you achieve, but also about how you impact others.  I aspire the be a good leader, to inspire my team and those around me, and to leave a lasting legacy. I graduated with a Bachelors of Law in 2012 and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in South Africa in 2014.  Following several years as a practising Commercial and Litigation Attorney , I wanted to further my experience on a commercial and international level.  This is when I started my career in private equity as an integral part of a Fund Administration company.

In 2022 I joined IDR to further my career, applying not only legal experience but also a thorough knowledge and understanding of AML regulations  to the broader financial sector.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?

Steve Jobs once gave a commencement speech at Stanford University during which he shared 3 lessons:

1. Connecting the dots:  It is impossible to connect the dots looking forward, but every effort you put in will become clear one day when you look back.  This gave me confidence in the effort that I put in every day, even when it leads me off the well-worn path.

2. Don’t settle: Your work is going to fill a large part of your life and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. The only way to do great work is to love what you do. This has driven me to keep challenging myself and to not just settle.

3. Death is life’s change agent clearing the old to make way for the new: Ask yourself each day if you would want to do what you are doing if you knew that you will die today. If the answer is “no”, then you know that a change is required. This motivates me to not waste time living someone else’s life, to follow my own intuition and focus on what I truly want to become and achieve.

What’s on your bucket list?

Travelling and experiencing new things have always excited me. The more places I see and experience, the bigger I realize the world to be and how much more there is to learn. I would like to travel the world and visit all continents to see and experience the wonders of the world.

When you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?

I like to live my life by a compass and not a clock. Going on adventures and travelling with friends and family is truly enriching.  Once a year I try to go some place that I’ve never been before.
